BPS - Proposed Standards for Projected Digital Images (PDI)
Based on PAGB Recommendations Vers 2.2 April 2007.
Images for use in Society Trophy Competitions, entries to YPU, InterClub and annual Ossett Battle. The proposals should also be valid for external events such as RPS, Alliance Federations and suchlike - but check with their individual entry rules.
Equipment (A.01.1)
Set up to produce a "fair and common representation of the authors' submitted images", ie. a level playing field.
Data projector set up to a recognised Test Card for optimum brightness, contrast, hue and squareness (image geometry) on screen.
Native resolution of current projector is XGA, ie. 1024px wide by 768px high.
Projector (A.01.2.3) to be set for static colour mode sRGB.
Dynamic modes not to be used.
Keystone Correction (A.01.2.4)
Digital keystone correction set to Zero or Disabled.
Optical keystone correction - ideally minimal.
Projector aligned square to and parallel with screen centre preferred.
Data Governance (A.02)
Society to make clear its policies and procedures for events, ie. competitions, with respect to data protection and copyright as applicable to storage, copying and retention of members images.
Summary of Image Requirements (B.02)
Landscape image 1024px wide maximum at 72ppi (dpi)
Portrait image 768px high maximum at 72ppi (dpi)
These sizes not to be exceeded in either format.
A square image will have a maxumim height of 768px and maximum width of 768px to maintain correct aspect ratio.
File Names
To be as short as possible and of the form . . .
Title Author Initials (2 or 3 letters)
eg. Kirkstall Abbey FB
(Based on this, the images should be mixed randomly for the final projection display.)
File Format (B.04.1)
JPEG with the 3-letter file extension '.jpg' all in lower case as convention. The file extension will normally be added by default in your image processing software though it is not necessarily shown on a Windows screen.
Submission Media (B.06.1)
Images accepted on CR-Rom (CD-R disc), memory card/stick, flash drive.
CD-RW and DVD to be avoided due to possible compatibility problems.
Images to be placed in the respective Competition folder (directory) for the particular event.
