Ceremonial guard duty is performed by evzones - kilted soldiers of the select Greek infantry regiment who fought with distinction in the Balkan Wars and the Second World War. Evzone from the Greek meaning 'dressed for exercise' based on their uniform including a fustanella - the stiff white kilt.
